Biography

Thomas was born 1877 in Aston , Warwickshire, England. He was the son of Irishman Richard Mole and his English wife Mary Ann Dipple. [1]

In the 1881 England Census Thomas (3) was listed as the son of Richard (46) a Still Log Grinder, and Mary Mole (45), and that he was born in Aston, Warwickshire. They were living at 16 Francis Street, Hamlet of Duddeston, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England. His siblings were David Richard (16) a labourer, John (13), Arthur (11), and William (7). [2]

Thomas travelled with his family from London, England to Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, arriving on the vessel 'Duke of Westminster' on 11 January 1886. [3]

He supposedly drowned in the sea at Dunwich, Stradbroke Island, Brisbane, Queensland on 18 October 1928. His sister-in-law Louisa Mole was the Informant and the death was registered on evidence based on extracts from police reports. He was about 51, and his body was never recovered. [4][5]

    MAN MISSING FROM DUNWICH.
    Since midnight on October 19, Thomas Mole, aged 53 years, has been missing from the ward in which he had been an inmate at Dunwich (Benevolent Asylum). Mole, who has previously strayed from the institution, was subject to epileptic fits. Up to yesterday afternoon the efforts of the Cleveland police and Dunwich authorities to trace the missing man have been fruitless.
