Biography
Maria was born about 1834. She was the daughter of William Mitchell, farmer; and lived at Ballynasollus, County Tyrone as of 1857. [1]
On 17 November 1857 at Oritor Presbyterian, she married John Campton(23) of Dunmore, son of James Campton. Witnessed by Robert Bradford and William Mitchell. [1]
Research Notes
William Mitchell (abt.1798-1875) is the only other Mitchell I have found associated with Ballynasollus. Note that as per Griffith's Valuation it seems to be the smaller Derryloran portion of Ballynasollus; not the Kildress portion.
William Mitchell (abt.1791-bef.1861) is a possible father -- his wife would later marry a Bradford and we saw a Bradford witness Maria's marriage -- however there is no baptism of a Maria alongside other children of that William.
No records found for children of this couple; and there is a tentative death registration for husband in 1883 -- as Married, not Widower. No death or remarriage records found in Cookstown SRD, nor Ireland census records. So , not sure what happened. Possibly the couple even emigrated and the tentative husband death was a different person.
