The Metters family manufactured more than a dozen different models of Metters brand wood stoves, including "Beacon Light, Bega, Barossa, Canberra, Capitol, Crawford, Dover, Early Kooka, Edford, Empress, Herald, Improved, New Royal, Newcastle, Regina, Royal, Samson, Shearer and Wilga".

Frederick Metters was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)

Frederick Metters was born at Melbourne in the Colony of Victoria in 1858. He was the son of James Metters and Susan Flux.^[1]

Frederick Metters married Frances Fisher in 1883, at Kensington, a suburb of Adelaide in South Australia. They had at least eight children.

Frederick patented an improved design for wood stoves in 1891 and established a factory on Victoria Square in South Australia.

He went into partership with Henry Langdon Spring in about 1894.

Frederick and his son, also named Frederick, established an Orange Grove at their property near Morgan, South Australia, which probably overlooked the famed Murray River, hence the name, Murray View.

Frederick Metters passed away at Adelaide, South Australia in September 1937 and was laid to rest at the West Terrace Cemetery in Adelaide, South Australia.
