John McQuown was born about 1823 in Pennsylvania to James and Unknown McQuown.

John married Rebecca Huey on Dec. 4, 1843 in West Alexandria,, Donegal, Washington, Pennsylvania. Rebecca was the daughter of Virgil Huey (1796-1872) and Ruth Gilmore (1798-1880).

Their children were:
