Biography
Mary was born about 1795. She was the daughter of Stephen McPherson and Phoebe Murdock. According to MARY's death record, her parents were Stephen and Phebe McPherson, and her son was Andrew McPherson. She would have been one of the three females age 10-15 in Stephen's household in 1810,[1]
It appears Mary McPherson never married based on a son, Andrew McPherson, born in 1821. The 1830 Census for Stephen McPherson enumerated a female in the household age 20 to 30, and two males age 5 to 10.[2] Census records on Andrew McPherson show he was born in 1821 in Virginia so he was possibly one of the two males age 5 to 10 in Stephen's household.
According to the death register, Mary McPherson age 64 passed away in 1859 in Mercer County, Virginia. [3] Mercer county was created in 1837 from Giles and Tazwell counties.
