Biography

Scotland's Tartan Trail
Brian McPherson is a graduate of the Scotland Tartan Trail II.
Scottish flag
Brian McPherson has Scottish Ancestors.

Brian McPherson, his son, his brother, and one paternal 1st cousin, together with five male paternal 1st cousins 1x removed, all share the unique unbroken pedigree of fathers to sons from Daniel McPherson, by way of Daniel's son, Stephen McPherson.

This forefather Daniel, known as "the kidnapped Daniel," was said to have been taken from Inverness-shire, Scotland in the 1690s, and consequentially sold as an indentured servant to a Quaker family in the Pennsylvania Colony. At this time, there are many descendants who have claimed various parents for Daniel, but the sources to confirm Daniel's own ancestry remain unconfirmed. Brian is pursuing an inquiry into this lineage, which hopefully also will assist many others here at WikiTree to confirm their forefather.

Brian has completed the BigY-700 test from FamilyTreeDNA to start conversations into Daniel's heritage. So far, there are 9 confirmed descendants who have been tested. It would be great to find out if there are other fellows who can claim a pedigree who will be willing to undergo yDNA testing as well. Because of these tests, it is clear that Daniel McPherson, the "Kidnapped Daniel" was not born of the current Clan MacPherson chieftain lineage.

Hi Brian,

It is once again time for our annual Scotland Project check-in. Please respond within the next three weeks to let us know:

•If you would like to continue as a project member •If you are happy with your current teams or would you like to join a different team •How much time per month (on average) you spend working on Scottish profiles •Anything you’d like the Scotland Project to do more of in the future

You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within the next three weeks we’ll assume your interests have changed or you are no longer able to participate in the Scotland Project at this time, and your badge will be removed. If your circumstances change later you will be welcome to reapply for membership.

On behalf of the Scotland Project, I would like to thank you for your commitment to the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve Scottish profiles!

Hi Brian,

Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources; find or merge duplicates; clean up GEDCOM or merged biographies; or interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Hi Brian!

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are usually shared by many descendants, collaborating with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Review the project pages to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles that you manage or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Hi Brian

Thank you for upgrading. I am pleased to welcome you as a member of the WikiTree family. Your contributions will go a long way to joining the world’s trees together.

I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

Please add as much information as you can, with sources, as it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

Have fun collaborating on your ancestors
