John was born in 1749.
He married Margaret probably about 1768 in (probably) Augusta County, Virginia.
He had at least the following 6 children (listed in his will): Allen, John, Samuel, James, Peggy and Deborah. I know at least 2 daughters' names did not get transcribed into the abstract of his will (because the word daughters is plural).
He passed away in 1812.
Added by Chryse is an Abstract of John McCune's will from the book "Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish settlement in Virginia; Vol. 03, on page 238" as follows:
Page 118 (of will book?) - 17th March, 1812. John McCune's will - to wife Margaret; to son Allen McCune; to son John; to sons Samuel and James; to daughter Peggy; to daughters _____?; to daughter Deborah Harris. Executors: sons James and Allen McCune. Teste: Claudius Buster, Jacob Wine, George Pilson. Proved 28th April, 1812 by Claudius Buster and 25th May, 1812 by Geo. Pilson. Executors qualify.
