William McAdie, son of David McAdie and Elizabeth McAdie, was born about 1823 and baptised in Watten, Caithness, on 25 March 1823.[1] William's parents were living at South Dunn, in the parish of Watten, at the time of his baptism, [2] and the witnesses were George McAdie in Toftingall and Alexander MacKay in Cairn of Dun. [3]
