Biography
Thomas Malcolm was born on 13 October 1846 in Inverkeithing, Fife. [1][2] He was the son of Alexander Malcolm and Agnes White.
- In 1851 on the census, Thomas was 5 years old, living in quite a large household at Head of Shore Wynd. It included his maternal grandfather, Thomas White, aged 72, his uncle, Robert White aged 22 years, a cousin, who went on to marry Agnes after Alexander, his father died in 1849. Also living there were his mother, Agnes White, aged 35, his siblings - Mary & Agnes (twins) aged 11, John aged 9 and Alexandrina aged 1. There was also a servant called Ann. [3]
- In 1861, Thomas was 15 years old and living in Ferry Port on Craig in town of Vessels. The census states he was an ordinary seaman. He was living in a kind of boarding house. [4]
