Biography

Irene Eliza Lowe was born 15 Jun 1918 in Marsh Harbour, Abaco, Bahamas to Thomas Eldred Lowe-2141 ^[1][2] and Louisa Janet "Nettie" Russell.^[3][4]

She met and married, in 1941 in Nassau, Bahamas an adventurous young Texan working on yachts in Nassau. She and Lloyd Glenn Payne, Jr. soon returned to his home in Texas. They had three daughters: Shirene, Lana, and Rainy.

Irene Eliza Lowe Payne died 9 July 2018 in Harlingen, Texas. She was the 9th of thirteen children and the 3rd of five daughters. She lived the longest - at 100 years. Her oldest brother, Clerihew 'Clarie' lived 90 years (1903 Marsh Harbour, Abaco -1993 Nassau, Bahamas).

NOTE: The Russell-Bradbee-Payne-Hutcheson maternal match traces to Elizabeth Emily Hutcheson and her daughters Emily Matilda Griffin 1820-abt 1870 and Ophelia Griffin abt 1822-52. Ophelia died in a cholera outbreak at HopeTown, Abaco, Bahamas.
