Biography

Jane was born in 1741 and christened at Kirk Andrews upon Esk, Cumberland, England on April 12 of that year. ^[1]

She and David Graham (who was living at Fauld when their daughter Francis was born in 1779) were not married but had already buried an infant son back in 1775^[2].

Their daughter Francis was born in 1779 and christened at Arthuret on July 3 of that year ^[3]

entry reads: Bapt. GRAHAM: Francis Bastard daughter of David Graham of Fauld & Jane Little of Lairdstown (shown on IGI as surname Graham or Little) ^[4]

Research notes

Jane's birth

As 1741 was an estimated birth year based solely on that of David, father of two of her children, the Kirkandrew upon Esk baptism is not proven to be this Jane Little. It is a rather common name in the area.

When Frances was born, Jane was living at Lairdstown, in the Parish of Arthuret.
