Biography

Bessie Helena Johnson was born on her grandfather's Albert Charles Hall farm in East Hereford, Quebec on June 5, 1889. She was the eldest child of William Francis Johnson and Caroline Melissa Hall. ^[1] The family moved to Lancaster, New Hampshire about 1902. ^[2]

Bessie and Linley Glenn Taylor met while working at Sunset Hill House in Sugar Hill, New Hampshire. She and Linley married in Lancaster in 1916.^[3] Under the law of the time, Bessie became a U.S. citizen upon marriage. ^[4]

She was the mother of eight children, two of whom died in infancy, and the grandmother of fifteen.

Bessie died in Concord, New Hampshire in June 1979 at the age of 90.^[5] She is buried in Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord.
