Where was William in the 1871 census?

William's parents?

Can this William possibly be the William Jenkine (1841-) born Kippen, Stirlingshire to Peter Jinkins and Mary McGrigor?

Pro: Mary had died by the 1851 census. Her parents appear to be Daniel / Donald McGrigor & Clara Graham, where there is a handy William, aged 18, living with a family in Ontario in 1861 who could be his grandmother Clara and uncle Daniel.

Memorable Manitobans shows born Arnprior to Peter and Mary, with implication this came from his death cert.

Con: age a bit out although a July baptism, albeit in 1841, not 1844, ie about right month, might fit. Or there was a 2nd William? Which would be the name of his paternal grandfather. As family say there was also a brother Peter who went to Australia, missing baptisms are highly likely.

Does anyone have any formal record of William's parents? eg from marriage or death cert,?
