Biography

John's parents are named on his marriage record as Wiliam Hutton, joiner, and Elisabeth Macfarlane. His baptism record confirms his parents' names.

In the 1841 census John is with his parents and siblings at Kirk Lane, Kincardine (Perth), Perthshire. His age is given as 2. (Find My Past - 1841 census [1])

His occupations are variously described in records relating to him as Carriage builder, Joiner and a coachbuilder journeyman.

He gave his age as 27 when he and Annabella married. His place of residence was 8 Claremont Street, Glasgow. Her's was 52 Mason Street, where the marriage took place. The witnesses were Duncan Hutton and Rovert Hutton.

He survived her death age 55 in 1899 and is in the 1901 census in 182, Stirling Road, Glasgow, St Rollox, Lanarkshire with his married son William, a merchantile clerk and daughter-in-law Mary, and John's other son Duncan, a sewing machine mechanic (Find My Past - 1901 census [2])

John retired and lived until he was 83 when he died of a cerebral thrombosis brought on by senile debility. His son William registered his death
