Born in Inverness General Hospital, Scotland in mid 1950's to a father from Yorkshire (Hopkinson/Barritt/Bateman/Hodgson) and a mother from London (Lee/Bryan/Freeman/Jeffrey).
Bounced around Scotland and Wales for the first 6-7 years before settling on outskirts of Edinburgh, Scotland. Left Edinburgh in 1977 after graduating from University and joined the oil and gas industry. Spent the first 5 years working North Sea fields out of UK then moved overseas to various countries around the world before settling in Texas in 2000. Retired 2019. Married twice with one biological daughter from first marriage.
Became interested in Genealogy around 2008 after realizing there was a Hopkinson that signed the USA Declaration of Independence. Initially looking for a possible link, I have since broadened my search to fill out my tree and pull in as many proven DNA matches as possible. The majority of my work is UK centric.
Upon retiring, I started adding completed profiles to WikiTree for others to use. I'm not a trained genealogist so my format may not be traditional but each profile is thoroughly researched and I try to pass on as much data as practical.
