Biography

Cecil Hamilton was the daughter of the Reverend George Hamilton and Elizabeth (Onslow) Hamilton.[1] She was born on the 15th of March 1770.[1]

She was baptised on the 3rd of May 1770 in Taplow, Buckinghamshire, England.[2]

In 1789 she was raised to the precedency of an earl's daughter by royal warrant.

She married twice: firstly she married John James Hamilton, 1st Marquess of Abercorn, son of John Hamilton and Harriet (Craggs) Hamilton, on the 4th of March 1792.[1] They were divorced in April 1799 by an Act of Parliament.[1][3]

She married, secondly, Joseph Copley, son of Sir Joseph Copley, 1st Bt., and Mary (Buller) Copley, on the 23rd of May 1799.[1] They were married in Marylebone, London, England.[4]

She died on the 19th of June 1819 at the age of 49.[5]
