Benjamin Hall MP, BA, MA was born in Glamorgan, Wales.

Biography

Benjamin Hall of Abercarn, co. Monmouth, and Hensol Castle, co. Glamorgan, was born in 1777 and baptised by his uncle, Rev Moses Grant, at Roch, Pembrokeshire on 28 Oct 1777.

He attended school at St Peter's College Westminster and received one of the school's Queen's Scholarships to Christchurch College, Oxford, graduating with a BA in 1798 and in 1801 with an MA, whereafter he was called to the bar at Lincoln' Inn where he practiced until 1816. He was elected MP for Totnes in 1806 and 1807, for Westbury in 1812 and Glamorganshire in 1814.

In 1801 he married Charlotte Crawshay, daughter of William Crawshay of Cyfartha. At this time both he and his wife were members of the parish of St Pancras, London.

At the time of his death in 1817 he was resident at 12 Upper Brook St, London.

A marble sarcophagus was erected over his grave in Llandaff Cathedral in Cardiff, Wales.
