Biography

William Grub was born on 26 November 1745 in Crail, Fife[1] to George Grub and Christian Hog and Christened on 29 November 1745[1]. All the other children of George Grub have the mothers name as Margaret Hog with William the exception[2].

He married Jean Wallace on 17 May 1766 in Elie, Fife, Scotland[3]. Their children were

  2. Margaret Grub
  3. Helen Grub
  4. William Grub
  5. Hugh Grub
  6. David Grub
  7. Spense Grub
  8. James Grub
  9. Thomas Grub
  10. George Grub

Two of the children died, One on 22 February 1772 (William GRUBB'S child in Paddock-mire 88 north and 3 West best little mortcloth.) and one on 26 September 1777 (William GRUB'S child in Blindwell 89 north and 6 West no mortcloth.)[4].

He was a Miller in Lundin mill by the time of Helen 's christening in 1770 but was a servant to James DURHAM of Largo by the christening of Hugh in 1774.

He died in 1798 and was buried on 6 February 1798 in Largo[5][6].
