Biography

• Catherine, daughter of Sir Stephen Richard Glynne and Hon Mary Griffin was born at Hawarden Castle, Flintshire in 26 Jan 1812 ^[1]
• Her father died when she was three and she and her sister Mary became very close friends even to having a 'double' wedding when she married William Ewart Gladstone in 1839 at Great Boughton, Cheshire, ^[2] and they had eight children.
• She did much to improve the lives of others as founder of convalescent homes, orphanages and the like. ^[3]
  
• She died at Hawarden Castle in 1900 aged 88 ^[4] and was buried next to her husband in Westminster Abbey ^[5] Probate on her Will was granted to Mary Drew, daughter and sons Henry and Herbert on 14 December 1900 ^[6]
