Hi Sheena,

Thanks for checking in. I haven’t been putting much time into researching my Scottish ancestors recently. By far, most of my recent research has been into my Australian ancestors and cousins. I don’t mind if you remove the Scottish project badge. It’s an accurate reflection of my recent priorities.

Thanks so much for all your work, Sheena

Hi Darren

Thanks for your reply, and thanks for all that you've done for the Scotland Project. If you'd like to re-join us in the future, you can do so by replying to our current G2G Welcome post which is linked from the project page at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Scotland

All the best Sheena

Hi Darren,

It is once again time for our annual Scotland Project check-in. Please respond within the next three weeks to let us know:

•If you would like to continue as a project member •If you are happy with your current teams or would you like to join a different team •How much time per month (on average) you spend working on Scottish profiles •Anything you’d like the Scotland Project to do more of in the future

You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within the next three weeks we’ll assume your interests have changed or you are no longer able to participate in the Scotland Project at this time, and your badge will be removed. If your circumstances change later you will be welcome to reapply for membership.

On behalf of the Scotland Project, I would like to thank you for your commitment to the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve Scottish profiles!

Sheena - Scotland Project Membership Coordinator

Hi Darren!

I noticed that you're working on pre-1700-era profiles. This is just a reminder that certifying to work on these types of profiles means that you agree to add valid sources as outlined in the Pre-1700 Certification Quiz and help page https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources

As an England Project member, you might like to remind yourself of this page https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:England_Project_Reliable_Sources which may have changed since you first joined :)

Thanks!

On behalf of the England Project, I would like to thank you for your commitment to the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve English profiles!

The England Project Leaders like to touch base with each of our members periodically to make sure everything is going well. This is our formal annual check-in with you.

Are you happy to with your current project team choices? Would you like to join any other teams?

Also, we would really like to hear which team is currently your highest priority. If you are a member of more than one team, could you please rank them from highest priority to lowest? Thank you! If you don’t see yourself as being part of a team, please let us know.

We also welcome any feedback on things you would like to see the project do more of in the future.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message.

Hi Susie,

Apologies for the delay replying to you. Thanks for checking in. I’m very happy with the work by Wikitree organisers, like you.

I’m not active in any projects. I don’t have the time. Just following up with cousins I have met through Wikitree keeps me busy in my family tree time. I don’t mind if you remove me from the projects, given my lack of time to participate in them.

Keep up the great work! I really like the work and philosophy behind Wikitree

Hi Darren, no problem, better late than never! Many thanks for responding.

It's totally ok to stay in the team. I see you have English ancestors and update those profiles from time to time, which is great thanks. We do have you in the Connectors team, but I think that as you have limited time, then the work you do get done on English profiles probably fits into the Sourcers team so if I don't hear otherwise, will switch you into that team. Then, anything you do get time to do on English profiles, assuming you source them, then you'll be contributing to that team!

Best wishes, Susie

Hi Darren!

It's time for our annual Scotland Project check-in!

This year we are hoping to learn what our membership would like to accomplish over the next 12 months. In case you aren't aware, this year is WikiTree's "Year of Connections" and the Project's leadership would like to contribute to this in as many ways as possible.

We would appreciate it if you would share your thoughts and ideas with us on how we can accomplish this goal. We would also appreciate it if you would provide some feedback on our existing goals, including:

  • If you have not yet signed up to help on one of the project's teams, which team(s) would you be interested in joining?
  • How often should we provide a Project Newsletter?
  • Have you participated in the Tartan Trail? If not, is this something you'd be interested in doing?
  • Do you have a question(s) that we could add to a Frequently Asked Questions page?
  • Any suggestions or ideas you have on ways to improve the Scotland Project in general

We continue to communicate with our Project members via Google Group (official) and Discord (unofficial), as well as G2G. You may also reach out to any of the Project leaders via WikiTree's internal messaging system at any time.

Thank you for all you do to help the Scotland Project become a knowledge hub for Scottish genealogical research! We wish you all the best in 2022!

Sincerely, Amy Gilpin on behalf of the Scotland Project Leaders

Thanks for your email and checking in. Most of my family research lately has been focused on my Australian ancestors. I will get onto research my Scottish ancestors one day, but there is still a lot of work to do on my Australian ancestors (which go back to the early to mid 19th century). Thanks for all your efforts. Keep up the good work! cheers, Darren

Hello

It’s time for a Project check-in!

Scotland Project Leaders check in with you at least once a year to see how you are doing. With the changes happening around the world, we understand that life is hectic right now.

What are you planning to work on for the Scotland Project this year? Are you happy with the team(s) you part of, or would you like to make some changes?

This time round, we’re also looking for feedback on the use of Google Group and Discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way to ensure you receive Project communications? If you would like to join us on Google Group or Discord, let us know in your response.

Hi Amy,

Thanks for your message. I haven’t been doing a lot of family research lately. Most of the dead ends in my family tree are ancestors from England, so that’s why I am in the England Project. I don’t use the Google group and I wasn’t even aware of the Discord server. What is it? Thanks for checking in. Keep up the good work! cheers, Darren

posted by Darren Gladman
Hi Darren,

That's ok! Research comes in swings :) The Discord server is a chatroom-type forum we use for live communication with other members, including a research channel to assist each other with individual genealogy issues like finding sources and family. It's not at all essential to being part of the project, and any and all official messages from us are sent through the Google Group or to individuals directly so you aren't missing anything important, but if you'd like to join feel free to let me know :)

Hi Darren,

It's that time of the year again: check-in time! As England Project Leaders, we like to check in with you every six months or so to see how things are progressing. Back in May, we didn't ask for a response due to the rapid emergence of Covid-19 because we understood that people's lives were changing rapidly. While we are still living in a Covid world, we do need to hear back from you this time around

First of all, how are you doing? What are you currently working on? Are you happy with the team(s) you're in, or would you like to change things up?

Secondly, we're looking for some feedback on the Google Group and our Discord server. Do you use either or both of these? If you don't use either, why not? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve participation and collaboration, either generally or for you personally?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Amy, Joan & Lizzie.

Hi Margaret,

Hi Darren,

The Australia Project leadership team are carrying out a check-in to see how you are going in the project and especially to thank you for all your work on Australian profiles on WikiTree. We really value your participation.

Please could you get back to me by private message to let me know if you are happy with your current role and team involvement within the project or if you would like to do something additional or different. Currently you are on the Victoria and Convicts teams. If you would like a change, you can check on the Australia Project page to see what other options there are.

It would also be great to hear any feedback and any suggestions that you have to improve the project. On a practical note, if you are a member of the google group, are you receiving messages ok? Also do you have Australia as one of the tags you are following on the G2G? Don't forget to add it in if you don't have that tag yet.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards

Are you happy to stay in your current team and the project as a whole? Are there any other teams you'd like to join? What are we doing well, and what would you like to see us doing differently moving forwards?

Hi Darren,

We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.

Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please don’t assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.

Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.

Many thanks,

Susie

Hi Darren,

I’m Susie the new leader of the England Project. We are contacting all existing members of the project to find out how you are currently involved, and how you would like to be involved moving forward. Please have a look at the England Project page for more information, and then contact either myself or Gillian to let us know what you’d like to do, or if you have any questions. We can then list your interests, help you join the team in the Google group forum for England, and give you any help you might need to get going. If we don’t hear back from you we’ll assume you no longer want to be a part of the England Project at this time.

Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you,

Hi Darren,

Congratulations on being Pre-1700 certified!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordination is essential and project participation is strongly encouraged. I'm here to help you find a project related to your current research focus.

Think about the particular time periods, locations, and topics in which you are interested. Do you have historically-significant ancestors? The list of active projects may give you some ideas.

If you see one that is just right, go ahead and join. Otherwise, let me know what you are looking for and I will see what I can find.
