Biography

Cleveland Gipson is a part of US Black heritage.
Cleveland was born in 1894. He was the son of General Gipson and Clara Idelet. In the 1900 census Cleveland (age 4) was the son of Gina Gibson in Militia District 884, Sumter, Georgia.[1] In the 1910 census Cleveland (age 14) was the son of Gen Gipson Sr in Militia District 1007, Sumter, Georgia, United States.[2]

Cleveland served in the US Army during World War I. He enlisted on 29 July 1918 and served with Company 'B', 567th Engineers Service Battalion. He was discharged on 13 December 1918.[3]

In the 1935 census Cleveland (age 38) was the head of household in Precinct 4, Indian River.[4] In the 1940 census Cleve (age 43), Truck Driver, was the married head of household in Indian River, Florida.[5]

Cleveland died on 27 June 1958 and was buried in Gifford Cemetery, Vero Beach, Indian River County, Florida, United States.[3][6]
