Communication Preferences:
I am interested in communicating with
cousins and anyone else with an interest in genealogy.
Here is my family tree.
Many with whom I've spoken are interested in genealogy as a window into their sense of identity. That is lovely, but it doesn't resonate with me. I find it more fascinating as a window into history. What did people do? Who were they? How did they live? And to what extent can we know these things? As I grow older, I will be working here at Wikitree because of the Honor Code. I realize that what we know and what we can prove are fluid. There is validity in family stories, particularly first-person accounts. That said, we need every scrap of objective documentation we can find. I am not interested in mythology here, but history. There is a line there, but I want to tread on the documentable side of that line as much as possible.
