Obit in The Orilla Times of 21 Mar 1912 reports:Railway Fatalith near Brechin. Mr Robert Faibairn Struck by Train and Killed

BRECHIN Mar 20 - Late on Sat evening when Mr John Jordan was returning home from the village, he was horrified to discover the mangled remains of a man laying on the track just north of the village, in what is known as "the cut", where the snow is deep on both sides of the track.Mr Jordan secured a lantern and at once returned to Brechin and notified the proper authorities. The body proved to be that of Mr Robert Fairbairn, who resided on the 12th concession,and who was in the village on Saturday, and after making some purchases was last seen alive walking towards the track in the evening. The body was removed from the track on Sunday morning, and an inquest held on Monday, the finding being that trhe unfortunate man came to his death on the railway. It is the general belief that he was struck by the night train going north. The head and one arm were completely severed from the body. Mr Barker took charge of the body on Sunday, and on Tues removed it from his undertaking parlors to the deceased's home at Fairvalley.^[4][5]
