Foster's testimony. my abstract; John was the son of Richard Foster who was the son of Elizabeth (Duke) Foster, sister of Moses Duke In his testimony, John indicated there was a tradition in his family that the parents of Elizabeth (Duke) Foster were named Richard Duke and Elizabeth Harris. At the time of the testimony to the Dawes Commission in 1901, John was 56 years old. He remembers seeing his grandmother for the last time about 1859, when he was about 13, during a family visit to MS from LA. John's father died in 1878 in LA.
