Peter was born on the 15 November 1818 in the Parish of Kincardine by Doune, Perthshire, Scotland[1]. He is the son of Shoemaker, Peter (Drysdale) and Mary (Eisdon), who married on the 11 December 1808 in the Parish Church, in the Village of Doune, surrounded by the River Teith and Ardoch Burn, in the Parish of Kincardine, Perthshire, Scotland[2]. All of the children have moved away by the arrival of the Census of 1881 and only their granddaughter, Mary (Drysdale) resides with Peter and Mary (Drysdale) at Bridge End, in the Town of Callander, Perthshire, Scotland[8].
With the Census of 1841, Peter's occupation is recorded as being a Servant but by 1851, he is working as an Agricultural Labourer. In 1861, he is employed as a Ploughman and in 1871, a Gardener before working as a Surfaceman in 1881.
