Biography

Henry Drysdale son of Peter Drysdale and his wife, Mary Esden, was baptised at Kincardine-by-DOune on the 11th of December 1814. ^[1]

It was probably economic pressure that took him to Renfrewshire where at Paisley (Abbey) he married Jean Steel, daughter of William Steel and his wife, Janet Craig, on 19 June 1841. ^[2]

In 1851 they were living at Thorn and Henry was supporting his mother-in-law as well as Jean and their three children. ^[3] They had moved to Johnstone by 1861. ^[4] By 1881 all the children bar Mary had left home and she was supporting her parents from her wages at the cotton mill as Henry was unemployed.. ^[5]
