Biography

John was a Friend (Quaker)
Although primary sources are difficult to source for John Drummond, he is frequently mentioned; mostly due to his son being a burgess in Virginia. It is widely believed he was born around 1636 in the Colony of Virginia. (Royale top states he was born in England; citations needed).
John married Patience Hill and together they had at least 10 children. A few Quaker records directly reference John Drummond as he remained in Virginia during the 1660's while many Quakers left due to the horrendous persecutions suffered during those times. (Citation needed)

He died in 1713 but I cannot help but notice that the death date in all records matches the probate death. I suspect it is earlier than the date noted but I have left it as all records I have seen use this same date.

I forgot I published the last comment - but it was never acknowledged so I will proceed again. I've come full circle back to these after reading most of "The Genealogy of the Most Noble and Ancient House of Drummond" I am becoming more convinced that this was not the son of the attached parents. I believe they may have only had one son, Patrick, but my Gaelic understanding is "self taught" and involves me confirming the writing then checking on the historical timeline as it pertains to nomenclature etc. I'd appreciate any thoughts or considerations and would've sent a direct message but sometimes the app glitches and won't allow my phone to do so- but I can receive direct emails :)

It would appear this / these(?) profile(s) was / were recently merged because of the duplicate headings (fixed) sources under Acknowledgements (corrected) but most importantly the conflicting data represented by 2 completely different bios with totally different styles that haven't been combined. I tried writing a new, cohesive bio beginning but the profile managers should have agreed on his birth year, location, marriage, spouse, date of death, location etc before this was merged. If it was done by someone else and not approved or profile managers ignored it and it became auto approved; I think they can be split and original data returned.
!! Before doing so, please check the proper methods as it's also plausible only this profile remains regardless and it can be returned to the original state but the other would be lost and that would be unfair to the persons who worked on it. As it currently stands, I manage the newly attached father's profile and he was dead for over 2 decades before this man was born so I'm going to look at my notes when I can get to them.

I just wanted to point some things out and add I don't know about anyone before me, but I didn't delete any sources nor did I remove citations etc...If anything seems removed it has only been placed under a heading.

Thanks! Becky

- One last thing- the data under the Notes section regarding John Drummond born ca. 1637 in England was copied and pasted; perhaps from Wikipedia bc someone left the footnote numbers without actually adding corresponding footnotes...moreover, no quotation marks nor credit was given for the work taken and this is not a common WikiTree practice so if going with data below the Notes line additional work besides citations needs to be done.

In uploading a GED.com it seems Drummond-25 and Drummond-292 are the same person but I can't get assistance with merging and which to connect with my tree as this is my great grandfather. Thanks in advance for any help.

i agree with your analysis that the two profiles are the same person. I would like to get the record right though as we have several date and location discrepancies. Your research looks better so I accept that the British Isles is more likely. Although I think Scotland rather than England due to parent's marriage in Scotland.

The part that bothers me is the death date. I do not have Ancestry any more so I cannot see the source I put on the profile for wills. My question is, Is this a will or a probate record? If probate, then I think your death date is incorrect. If will, then I think you are fine. I am not sure I understood the difference back when I did my original research.

We will complete this merge but I want to interpret the data correctly first. This message is from Gurney Thompson [email address removed] . Click here for their WikiTree profile: https://www.WikiTree.com/wiki/Thompson-34031

Drummond-292 and Drummond-25 appear to represent the same person because: Duplicate.
