Biography

Henry was born in 1875.[1] He is the son of George Driscoll and Mary Tolmie. He served in the New Zealand Army in the Second Boer War (1899-1902) - he enlisted in the NZ Mounted Rifles, 5th Contingent, 13th Company on 28 Mar 1900, leaving for South Africa 3 days later. His service number was 2467 in the 5th Contingent and was 4716 when he joined the 7th Contingent. His last known rank: Private; Trooper.[2][3] He died from an accident involving horses and a sledge in 1912.[4] On 21 Dec 1912 he was buried in Ōamaru Old Cemetery, Ōamaru, Otago - Presbyterian, Block 70, Plot 45, 46.[5][6] This Henry has some similarity to another Henry Driscoll (Henry Driscoll (1875-1947) without a middle name but they are not the same.
