John Dove was born in Hempnall, Norfolk, England.

John Dove was baptised on July 31, 1737 at St Margaret's Church in Hempnall, Norfolk. His parents were Daniel Dove and Elizabeth Berry. ^[1]

John married Susanna Hunt by banns on October 29, 1755 at St John the Baptist in Bressingham, Norfolk.^[2] At the time of their marriage they were both living in Bressingham. John signed the marriage record, Susan signed with an X.

Susan his wife and Daniel his son

Trust I bequeath unto my wife Susan and my son Daniel all my goods cattle and household effects and personal estate whatsoever which I shall be possesed of for their joint benefit during my aforesaid wife's life and after her decease I give the whole of my aforesaid personal estate unto ??? my aforesaid son Daniel ??? came to my ? son Daniel shall depart this life before my aforesaid wife's decease leaving a wife or issue of his body then I bequeath the ? personal property unto his wife or such issue as ? because and in case he shall not have a wife or any lawful issue it is my wish after the decease of my wife the ? goods chattels cattles & effects shall be sold and the money raising by sale thereof I give unto all my children that shall be then living equally share & share alike and to the issue of any of them who may be ?? dead leaving issue
