Biography

Martha was born in 1777. ^[1] Louisa Denmark Rester applied for a Revolutionary Pension based on her husband's service. A family record was submitted with the following information "David Rester was born in July the 16th day of our Lord 1786 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Susannah denmark was born Made the 6 day 1765

Jammima denmark was born in November the 8th 1767

Luicea denmark was born October the 17th 1768

Elizabeth denmark was born the 4th day of August 1771

Reading denmark was born December the 8th day 1773

Clark denmark was born October the first day 1775

Matthew denmark was born in November the 15th 1777" ^[2] (NOTE: Matthew was a transcription error by the Southern Campaign American Revolution Pension Statements & Rosters and should have been transcribed as Martha.)

Martha married Thomas Jones 17 Apr 1799 in Bulloch County, Georgia.

In the 1820 Bulloch County Georgia US Federal Census for Thomas Jones (male aged 45 and over) Martha is listed as female age 26 thru 44.

In the 1830 Bulloch County Georgia US Federal Census for Thomas Jones (male aged 50 thru 59) Martha is listed as female age 50 thru 59. There is also a female age 80 thru 89 listed in the household. I wonder if this might be Elizabeth Cosby Jones, Thomas Jones mother since Martha's mother died in 1806.

Thomas died in 1835 and the 1840 census for Martha has not been located.

In the 1850 Bulloch County Georgia US Federal Census Martha Jones is listed as 73 years old. It notes she was born in North Carolina. Martha is listed with her grand-daughter Barbary Gibson 20 year old female and James Denmark 11 year old male.

Martha is listed in the 1850 census so we know she was alive when the census was enumerated on 10 Sep 1850. She died sometime after this date although it is not known when or where. FAG lists a death date of 1848, however this is in question due to the 1850 census record. A message has been sent to the manager of Martha's profile on FAG for clarification.
