On 25 December 1874 in New Zealand, he married Eliza Martha Bennewith. ^[2]

He was a master mariner. ^[3]

In 1873 he joined the Freemason Lodge at Oamaru. ^[4]

In electoral rolls he is recorded as a freehold land owner and overseer, of Oamaru.

He was noted in an 1884 newspaper as an "acting pilot" of Oamaru; he had saved the life of a man stranded off the wharf. ^[5]

He passed away 23 March 1906 age 69 at his residence, Test Street, Oamaru, and is buried at Oamaru Old Cemetery. Eliza Martha is in the same plot. ^{[6] [7] [8] [3]}
