  • The censuses show that Jessie was born in 1839, same as Robert. Could it be that is just a copy error, and that this is she? She would be the right age, especially if husband Robert is the same one that married Sarah Sampson, and whose wife may have died in 1864 in childbirth with daughter Sarah?
  • The previous paragraph should probably be removed at some stage as Primary Sources would indicate the information is erroneous. Janet was born 1839 as shown on her OPR record and both Janet and Robert are indicated as Single on their marriage record, so Robert is unlikely to have been previously married. Chris Macneill
