William Courtis was born on 8 April 1793 and was baptised at St Agnes, Cornwall on 12 May 1793.[1]
One family tree (in the possession of Ron Courts) suggests he married Joanna Trewartha in St Agnes, Cornwall on 14 June 1823. However, there are reasons to believe this is incorrect. William Courtis' headstone says he was married to Mary. Further research is needed and in the meantime the connection between this William Courtis and Joanna Trewartha has been deleted.
Their son James was born in 1834.[2] (Need to check this is correct)
He died around 1883.[3] (check Vic BDM records)

I sent you a response but just realised I sent it to the “no reply” address. Here is the message I meant to send you a few weeks ago…
Hi Tony, Your logic is persuasive and confirms something I have suspected. The information I put onto Wikitree was based on a family tree given to me by a cousin. I saw some anomalies, but didn't drill down into them. I'll look more closely into this (although what you say has me persuaded already), get back to my cousin (who is still alive) and check his sources etc. Meanwhile, I am happy to cut the link on Wikitree between 'my' William Courtis and Joanna while we get to the bottom of the errors. cheers, Darren
