Biography
This profile is part of the Clezie Name Study.
James was born in 1760. His baptism record, on 14 December 1760 at Coldstream said:
“George Clazy hind in Hatchednize had his son James baptized who was born 4th”
But bad handwriting on the certificate leaves it unclear if the spelling shown was "Clazy" or "Claizy". That is a matter of interpretation. He was the son of George Claisye and Agnes Middlemist. Hatchednize was the name of a farm located near Coldstream.
James appears to have passed away before 1766, when the same parents had another son, also called James. But records are poor, without much continuity. [1]
