Category: Wanted Runciman DNA

Categories: Runciman DNA Project

This subset of the Runciman DNA Project contains links to the end of line ancestors where we are still looking for a direct male line Runciman willing to represent the line in the DNA project.

We may already have one candidate, but to ensure we have an accurate DNA signature for the line, it is preferable to have distant cousins participating. The more the merrier, particularly if the end of line ancestor had many sons.

For further information:

  • follow the category links back, or
  • jump directly to the Runciman Surname DNA Project supplementary pages, or
  • order a Y-DNA test (at least Y-DNA37, but preferably Y-DNA67) using this link to give WikiTree, this wonderful free resource, a small cut - but do remember to then join the Runciman Surname project!

The category name has been intentionally left ambiguous as to which sort of DNA candidates we are looking for.

Yes, the quickest way to compare relationships between families is via Y-DNA, but there are not always candidates available.

For those interested, but not direct male line descendants, a FamilyFinder test is recommended. This will indicate relationships within 4-6 generations but is far less precise in pinpointing where people match. Use this link to order and contribute something to WikiTree for their generosity in keeping WikiTree free.
