Biography
John Buick was born in Scotland.
John Buick lived in Oamaru, Otago, New Zealand.
John was born about 1830. [1]
On 1 Nov 1854 at St. Vigeans, Angus, Scotland, he married Margaret Petrie. [2]
They arrived in New Zealand on 26 December 1860 aboard the Chile from London. [3] Son Alexander had been born at sea on the voyage.
In 1862 he was recorded as a Settler in the Otago Colonist.
In 1868 he was charged with assaulting his son Alexander in the street. [4]
After Margaret passed away in 1891, he sold his property on Humber St, Oamaru. He had earlier run a tailor/clothier business.
By 1896 he had moved to Pahiatua, and Palmerston North in 1900. His son Thomas lived in the same town. [5]
He was buried 15 May 1905 age 75 at Te Henui Cemetery, New Plymouth. [6] [7]
