Hello!

I noticed that you have been creating Pre-1700 profiles and using The Peerage, FamilySearch and Geni profiles and trees, and Find A Grave memorials without pictures of the gravestone, as primary sources. None of these are acceptable for Pre-1700 profiles. Here is a link to the England Project's sourcing guidelines. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:England_Project_Reliable_Sources

If you have any questions or need advice, the G2G forum is a great place to ask for help.

Thanks! John

Hi Owen,

Tartan Trail checking in with you - please reply here if you haven’t received our messages. Sheena Tait - Scotland Project Membership Coordinator

Hi Sheena!

I received your emails and are looking at them now. Thankyou for your response :-)

Hi Owen,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles!

It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Thanks for having a Big Heart and taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. You will want to read this After Adopting Orphans as it explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. You may also want to go through the new member help on How to manage your Watchlist.

Your profile of Alfred Hamilton, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hamilton-9802, should have, based on his daughter’s details, a birth year in the 1860s, not 1960s. This makes it harder for others to find and connect to his profile. Cheers Mark

Greetings!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.
