I have a question about the ancestry line of Solomon Parks Lee https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Lee-37989. I did see Bowen members with GedMatch Kits listed on his profile. Is there a way to compare the autosomal dna of the descendents of William Lea that WIKI users have connected as the father of Solomon Parks to find out if he is truly a Lea that changed his name to Lee after moving to Georgia? William Lea is a descendant of James "Country Line" Lea and I am a Lea descendant. Dr. Cynthia Forde and I both are very interested to find out if a Lea changed his name to Lee or if this is a case of mistaken identity.
Thank you, Mary
good question and idea, so I compared Johnny Bowen, my dad, and another person from the William Lea page, Elaine LewersAncestryDNA, GEDmatch A155279 , Ancestry member Elaine_Lea_Lewers and found 2 sections that match at 9 and 12 centimorgans. Her tree has her coming from another child of William Lea, so this is data supporting your hypothesis that the name did change from Lea to Lee, in my opinion...
Comparing Kit M093442 (*jgb) [Migration - V3 - M] and Kit A155279 (*Cittadina) [Migration - F2 - A] I'll send you the results as a pdf.
Nice to "meet" you, Daniel. Samuel H Bowen, Sr., Bowen-1382, is quite an interesting fellow, if all that is known about him is to be believed. I assume you are talking about senior, Bowen-1382. There is also a junior, Bowen-9068 that I just adopted the profile of here on WikiTree. The only will that I have for Bowen-1382 doesn't mention any of his first wife's children, which I find a little concerning. Or there is a great story there behind their relationships. Thanks for reaching out and please share anything you find that you think is interesting. -Nathan
Seems we need to get you connected back to a known Richard descendant through your ancestor Daniel Samuel Bowen (Bowen-3267), correct?
What evidence do you have that indicates Richard Bowen ancestry as opposed to the other Bowen lineages in the US?
I'll help however I can, just let me know. Best, Nathan
About a week ago I sent you a request to be added to Mary (Clifton-250) Bowen's trusted list; she is a direct ancestor of my family. Would you please add me to her TL?
Oh no! Did you miss the Wales Project Semi-Annual Check-In posted below? Did I miss your response?
I hope all is well with you.
Please take a minute to post a reply to confirm you are still interested in the project and wish to remain an active member.
Let us know about your contributions during the last 6 months.
No response within the next 2 weeks will result in the removal of your Wales Project Badge.
You would be welcome to rejoin the project in the future. At such time, review the Membership Requirements on the Wales Project page and then click on the G2G Welcome Post link.
We are showing 8th cousin through Ann Bledsoe. We might also be connected through Bowen as my mothers great grandmother was a Bowen.

Thank you for being a member of the Wales Project. You may recall membership requires at least one contribution to the project each 6 months. A contribution includes creation of and modification to Wales related profiles.
Have you been able to contribute?
It is recognized some members are active. Thank you for your work. (There is no viable method to determine which members have been active in the Wales Project.)
Do you desire to stay on your current project team(s)? Which teams are you most active in? Are there other teams you would like to join or become more active in?
Also, do you have any feedback on what the project is doing well and anything we could do better in the future?
Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.
If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.
The United Kingdom Project has not been active since 2018 and we are now completely closing it down. We are removing all UK project badges. If you still have an interest in the UK and have not already joined another project, then you will need to join the England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales Project by answering one or more of their G2G posts. If your interest is in the British Isles and British Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories, then please contact me directly.
I left a message on your profile a week ago, checking in with you and seeing whether or not you’d like to continue in the Wales Project, and in your current team(s). I’ve not yet heard back from you, and I hope you are ok. If I don’t hear from you by this time next week, I’ll assume you’ve moved on to other things and will go ahead and remove you from the project for now but you would be most welcome to rejoin at any time.
Thank you so much for all your contributions to WikiTree in the last six months, and especially to the Wales Project. It’s been wonderful to have you as part of the team as we work together to increase the quality and quantity of Welsh Profiles.
I have you down as being on the Diaspora and Managed Profile Teams here. Is this right? How are things going? Do you have any questions? What can we do to support you? Would you like to change any of your teams? Do you want to continue in the Wales Project moving forwards?
I hope to see you on Discord soon.
I look forward to hearing back from you with all the above. Thanks once again, Olivia, Project Coordinator for Wales :-)
I left a message for you about a week ago to let you know about the restructuring of the Wales Project into new teams and to ask for your team(s) selection and e-mail address so I can add you to the project’s Google group. I’ve not yet heard back from you, so hope you are well, and that everything is ok in your part of the world.
Understanding that we are living in unusual times, I will hang on for another week to make sure that you do indeed want to stay in the project, after which, if I don’t hear from you, I’ll go ahead and remove you. You would, of course, be most welcome to rejoin at any time.
Dear Susie, Thank you so much for persistently reaching out. Yes, I would like to remain in the Wales Project. I am interested in the Wales American Diaspora and the Managed Profiles groups, all year ranges, if possible. Thank you, Nathan Bowen direct Y chromosome descendant of Richard Bowen, presumed Welsh emigrant to New England, 1630s.
As you will have seen, we have been doing some restructuring in the Wales Project and are now organising ourselves into different teams. Please have a look at the new project pages, and let me know which team(s) you would like to be in.
Please can you also send me your e-mail address? I can then make sure you are introduced to your Team Leaders, are in the Google Group, and receive an invitation to join our Discord server.
Please note that it is a requirement for membership in the Wales Project that you respond to these check-ins.
We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.
Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please dont assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.
Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.
Welcome to the United Kingdom Project including the Wales Project. I've added the UK badge to your profile and your name to the member interests pages for both.
Thanks for joining and good luck with your research.
I see we share an ancestor Obadiah Bowen born 1627 (Bowen-749) and of course his wife Mary Clifton. My Maternal Great Grandmother was born Florence Josephine Bowen in 1895. my 1st cousin Cathleen Bachman is also here on WikiTree Sharing the same Bowen lineage.
Hi, I'm not sure why I'm doing this, but my dad is an mtdna H5a1, ydna I1, Gedmatch M910713, Smith-75922, on 23andme.com. Oops, I'm the one that's been doing the tree there, and was getting nowhere, so ended up here. I've also got him on the global reunion thingy. I had fun pointing out to him that he was 3.1% neanderthal (after growing up in the 1960s, it is just LOL).
Hi Nathan. AJ mentioned you. I'm so glad you're a WikiTree member. The DNA project and the Global Family Reunion project (the one working on connections to AJ) are the two most important to me. I believe they are the two most important for the future of our mission.
I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Our process here is a little different than what you might find on other sites because of our goal of growing one worldwide tree with a single profile for each individual. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful. You might also want to check out our Before You Import a GEDCOM help page. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!
Hi! I see where you have uploaded your DNA for comparison. Did you know we have a project for DNA where a lot of great new things are happening? If you are interested and would like to check it out, go to the FIND link top right of your profile page, select PROJECTS from the drop down box, and then select the link for the DNA project. It has information listed that might be of interest to you, and feel free to contact any of the members if you would like additional details.
