Biography

Ann was born on 4 December 1853 in Gore, Laurentides Region, Canada East, daughter of Archibald Bennett and Mary (Nicholson) Bennett. Witnesses to her baptism 12 March 1854 were Samuel Rogers, Elizabeth Craig, and Anne Nicholson. ^[1]

She was listed with her family in Gore in 1861 and 1871 Census records. ^{[2] [3]}

By 1880, Ann had married Joseph McNeely. The couple had moved to Sevastopol, Door County, Wisconsin, USA, and were the parents of a son who had not yet been given a name, born May 1880 in Wisconsin. ^[4]

The family continued to reside in Sevastopol in 1885 and 1895. ^{[5] [6]}

By 1905, Ann, Joseph, and their children had moved to Sturgeon Bay, Door County. ^[7]

After her husband Joseph died in 1906, ^[8] Ann was still in Sturgeon Bay at the time of the 1910 Census. ^[9]

She was living with her son Jasper and his family ten years later in Brown, Wisconsin, and, in 1930, at 5640 Melvina in Chicago, Illinois. ^{[10] [11]}

By 1940, Ann had returned to Wisconsin, where she shared accommodation with her daughter Lou Jane Langemak and family in Gibraltar, Door County. In 1950, their residence was in Ephraim, Door County. ^{[12] [13]}

Ann died 14 February 1951 in Door County at the age of 97. ^{[14] [15]}

Research Notes

Ann's Birth Place has been entered as Gore, Laurentides Region, Canada East on the basis of her Baptismal Certificate, even though Gore was officially in Argenteuil County (rather than Laurentides Region), according to WikiTree suggestions.

Based on the year of birth of their first-born child in the 1880 Census, the date of Ann's marriage to Joseph has been entered as "before 1880", in the absence of precise information.
