Biography

Born in 1828 Frances was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Bateman.

She emigrated from England to New Zealand, travelling with the Crisp family (who first settled in Royal Oak, Auckland). They departed from London on 4 October 1850, via Sydney, arrived into Auckland on 1 February 1851 ob the Ship Victory.^[1]

Frances married Isaac Samuel Fletcher in 1853 in Onehunga, Auckland. Witnesses at the wedding were Joseph & Mary Jane Crisp and Eliza Williams. They went on to have 10 children.

She passed away in 1885 at the age of 56 from Breast cancer
