Biography
Nigel was born in 1873. He was the son of Harington Balfour and Isabelle Kinloch. He attended Eton.
He served in the First World War in the Royal Army Service Corps as a Major then a Lieutenant Colonel. He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.).
He married Grace Annette Marie Madocks, daughter of Henry Robarts Madocks and Hon. Amelia Anne Napier, in 1894. They had children:
- Lt.-Cdr. Sydney Harington Balfour d. 11 Jan 1941 on active service, widow Doreen Isabella Mary Grant
- Islay Monica Mary Balfour d. 16 Mar 1952 m. Commander Herbert Wyndham Williams
- Harold Harington Balfour, 1st Baron Balfour of Inchrye 1897-1988
He lived at Belton, Camberley, Surrey, England.
He passed away about 1955.
