Biography
Effie (Bain) Waldruff has Scottish Ancestors.
Effie Hunter Bain was born in 1888 in Bruce Township, Bruce, Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of chemist James Bain and Effie Hunter. [1]
In 1891 Effie (age 2) was living with her parents and five siblings in Paisley. They were of Presbyterian faith.[2]
Her father James passed away in 1898 at the young age of 47 yrs. old. In 1901 Effie (age 13) was living with her widowed mother Effie (age 46), four siblings, and one lodger in Bruce, Ontario.[3]
Effie (age 22, student nurse) was in an immigration document on April 30, 1910 in Niagara Falls. She was travelling to Clifton Springs Hospital in Clifton Springs, New York, United States. She was described as 5'4" tall, fair complexion, with brown hair and blue eyes. She had also been in New York from 1907-1908.[4][5]
In 1917: 25 yr. old Effie (spinster) was residing in Paisley, Bruce, Ontario; her birthplace. She married Eldon Horace Waldruff of Toronto. He was a bachelor, age 25, a Methodist, and a Chemist. Effie's faith was Presbyterian. The wedding was performed by Wm. J Knox, and witnessed by Andrew C. Knox and Mrs. Jean C. Knox of London, in London, Middlesex, Ontario.[6] Their children were:

- Unnamed Infant Waldruff (1921-1921)
- Ronald Bain Waldruff, 1924-2001
In 1919 they were on James S. in Hamilton, Ontario when they had an infant son that was stillborn at seven months.[7]
In 1921 they had moved to 135 1/2 Stinson St., still in Hamilton.[8] Late in that year they had a baby girl who was stillborn at 7 months in Hamilton, Ontario.[9] In 1924 they had a son Ronald Bain Waldruff; born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.[10]
In 1941 Effie was living with her husband on Humberview Cres., York, Weston, Ontario. Her husband Eldon was President of the L.K. Liggett Co. (later to become Rexall Drugs).[11]
Effie passed away sometime after 1941; date and place unknown.

- ?? 1911 census, there is a M. Effie Bain (age 23?, married) with a daughter (age __) living with Ann B Grove family. "Grove" is the same last name as her future mother-in-law Mary Grove, location Toronto, Ontario, the place of future marriage.[12]
