Ruth, born on December 2, 1911 in Grosevenor, Brown County, Texas, is the daughter of Robert Awbrey and Edith Lawhon Awbrey.[1]
After her parents and family moved to Elgin, Texas she worked for several stores in Elgin. Part of 1946, she worked in Kingsville, Texas. She moved with her husband to Harlingen, Texas where she worked in several stores beginning in 1950.[1]
She married Albert Lee Scales on June 6, 1934 in Bastrop, Texas. Albert worked from 1927 to June,1943 for the Elgin Standard Brick Co. In June that year he began working at Camp Swift near Bastrop, Texas until it closed in 1946.[1]
They moved to San Benito, Texas in late 1946 where he began work as a dragline operator for the Ballenger Construction Co.[1]
Albert died on August 8, 1968 and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, McDade, Bastrop County, Texas. Find A Grave: Memorial #38172638 retrieved April 25, 2020.
