1824 Mary was born, the eldest of 12 children of Leonard Adams, a Devon farmer.
She married Thomas Matters and the couple had 3 sons and a daughter before emigrating to Adelaide, South Australia. The baby Mary died on the voyage.
12 Feb 1857 Mary is widowed when Thomas dies after a sudden illness.
1857 Their youngest son Richard was born in Adelaide.
3 May 1888 died at her home in Exeter, Adelaide.
