Between 1590 and 1900, Albert's ancestors lived in the vicinity of the NE Southampton suburbs. With the exception of one family in Alton and two others likely in Portsmouth, and two yet unknown, all lineages lived within a rectangle 3.5 miles by 7 miles for the 300 years we can determine, including the towns of Chilworth, North Stoneham, South Stoneham, Botley, and Bishops Waltham. But Albert himself never lived there; his parents moved to Cirencester, Gloucestershire before beginning their family. His father, Owen, did move back to Hedge End in old age with his third wife.
