A non-member posted THIS yesterday.  He just sent me the image, which I graphically enhanced and uploaded HERE.  It needs handwriting expertise and knowledge of German to interpret it fully.

Contact information for the person who has it and is offering to give it to a relative is included on the image page.

The Geburtsschein (birth certificate) reads:

Elsa Katharina Hofmann born 4 April 1904 in Stuttgart.

Parents:  father-- Jakob Friedrich Hofmann (a carpenter) and mother-- Elisabetha Christina gebohren (maiden name) Lanwald

The birth was officially recognized with the document on 4 February 1924 in Stuttgart.  (When the government ordered an official document to be created, births were registered later.)

Stuttgart, Germany is a large city (Ort) in southern Germany and is part of Schwaben land.  Each city has its own government with its own archives and city registration offices.  Even today when anyone moves from one city to another they must register with the city authorities.
