Hi,Thanks for the reference!  Some Connecticut families left for Vermont just prior to the American Revolution and they've been hard to follow.

My ancestor Lydia Tisdale Payne was named in her brother Nathan Tisdale's will, where she is named as the wife of John Payne, residing in Vermont.  Nathan was a scholar who ran the Tisdale School; he bequeathed 12 volumes of "The Spectator" to his sister.

I will research this book soon .

Hope there's something there for you.  Connecticut and the American Revolution is how I came across it.  Didn't know Vermont almost stayed in BNA.
