Trying to Locate in England and US

Question

Hello fellow WikiTree'ers!!!

I have an ancestor we are having issues locating. Well two actually. But great for all of us is they are husband and wife!! YAYS!!

We have been able to find some Census records, info on kids, some death dates, etc. However, we do not have Parents or Siblings!! Oh no!! So we need some help. The primary one we are stumped is Mary Ann Madison Atkinson. Born sometime in the early 1800's in England. She came to America with her husband and children. We know they went to Virginia, possibly Pennsylvania, Ohio, and then landed in my lovely hometown of Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas. Now we know everyone except Mary came to Kansas. They are all buried in the Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia, KS; except Mary and a child that we have not located yet named Margaret.

Last name might have also been spelled as Maddison.

Samuel Atkinson, there son was christened 25 November 1827, South Shields, St. Hilda, County Durham (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NJ4S-5XJ)

Mother Mary I believe was Mary Ann Maddison born 14 January 1807 & christened 12 April 1807, South Shields the daughter of Samuel Maddison & Ann Smith.(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J73M-MPT)

Thank you Ron. That was a huge help. I looked up the information on County Durham and it seems Atkinson may be a rare name in those parts. Was there any luck in finding Thomas Atkinson, Mary's husband, and his parentage?

Nothing on Thomas Atkinson, I'm afraid. Durham & Northumberland is my birth territory, and surname Atkinson is very common.
