Can anyone tell me where Catherine MacCarthy fits in the Irish pedigree?

I am trying to connect some of these old Irish families from around Mountcashel in Ireland. It includes Tipperary, Waterford.

Catherine is supposed to fit into the MacCarthy Reagh of Springhouse line.  I have found a reference to the pedigree but am not sure where she fits.  Can anyone help identify her parents.  She married a famous Irish writer and politician.  Her profile says she was b1745 but I cannot find a source for that.

Thanks Frank. This post tells me a lot about descendants but I am looking for how she fits into the pedigree.  I have sent an email to the person who posted this thread, hopefully he can tell me how she fits.  I have scoured the internet pedigrees but cant find her .  I want to know who her parents were.
The statement about Catherine in my answer has not been verified as far as I know, but I thought it was worth posting.

My Williams line traces back to Monaghan County, Ireland and before that to Neath, Glamorgan, Wales. The earliest one lived during the time of Oliver Cromwell's rise to military power. For four generations they were each named John Williams and were farmers and feltmakers. I assume they farmed in warmer months and made hats during the colder months.
Definitely worth posting as he claims to know the answer to my question!  I have read up on the lineage and I would like to be able to link it in.  My married name is Williams, unfortunately my husbands ydna results aren't telliing us much about the origins, supposed to be Wales but I can't get them out of Devon!  Close.
Here's some good info about the Williams book. My last Williams ancestor was Ann Williams born 1747 who moved from Monaghan Ireland with her husband, William Bell b 1747, and their children in 1792 to Western PA. Info about the Williams book shows generations from 1620 to 1897, and follows:

I am tidying up the Indiana Shiel family and I am continuing looking to link this Catherine McCarthy Sheil to these old McCarthy (MacCarthy Reagh of Springhouse) and Sheils of Kilkenny. I also can not make the connection link.  I marked this Sheil parentage  & McCarthy lineage as "Uncertain" until we find a source. sad

Catherine McCarthy is not on the main line of descent through Dennis, Justin and Dennis (see will extracts below). The side branches don't offer much either: if the French are to be believed:

"1. Jacques Mac-Carthy, mort célibataire ;
2. Justin, dont l'article suit ;
3. Charles Mac-Carthy de Laganstown , dans le comté de Tipperary, marié avec Clara O'Farrell, mort sans postérité ;
4. Denis Mac-Carthy, marié avec N. Herringman, mort Londres sans postérité ;
5. Alexandre Mac-Carthy de Bartletts Buildings å Londres, mort célibataire"

Dennis McCarthy of Spring House (?-1713) left children James, Justin, Charles, Dennis, Alexander, Daniel(?), Elizabeth, Joan, Margaret, Catherine, and Mrs Fox (Honoria) - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L9LW-6CJB?cat=224404 Not mentioned is Maria who married Daniel Mahony of Dunloe and died in 1739.

Justin (1685-1756) left children John, Dennis, Margaret & Elizabeth -

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L9LW-6CYT?i=910&cat=224404

First son Dennis (1718-1761) only names son Justin in his will - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L9LW-6CYT?cat=224404

Second son John (1725-1788) supposedly had 4 sons and 4 daughters. He died intestate, daughter Elizabeth is appointed administratrix - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-99LW-2VNT?cat=224404

Looks like Catherine married in 1789 http://census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/dm/IRE_DIOC_007246539_00414.pdf

This suggests:

  1. she's well to do
  2. she wasn't born in 1745, more likely 1765-1770

In which case she could be the Catherine who was the daughter of John (1725-1788) above.

"H. Catherine Mac-Carthy non mariées en 1776 "

John, I thank you for helping me solve this mystery. Thank you for catching the age for marriage for "H. Catherine" and citing these searches. I think you are right that she may be the daughter of John McCarthy of Spring House. If that's the case, Catherine McCarthy's mother would perhaps be the Anne Wyse who was married to a "John M'Carthy of Spring House, Tipperary" mention in Burke's  Ireland Gentry tomes Pg. 493.at Google Books > https://books.google.com/books?id=Ha0EAAAAIAAJ&pg=PA493&lpg=PA493&dq=~genealogy+Edward+Shiel+Waterford,+Ireland&source=bl&ots=HtYO_w2Gvt&sig=ACfU3U3yyJIjBL-GoAVcxAy83oGwj4LVUQ&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiGv4ONipzmAhUP11kKHa3zBDIQ6AEwCHoECAMQAQ#v=onepage&q=~genealogy%20Edward%20Shiel%20Waterford%2C%20Ireland&f=false

That looks good to me Maggie.

BTW the "H." isn't an initial it's just she was eighth in the list of John's children.

"Edward Shell, of Drumdowny, Efq. to Mifs M‘Carthy, daughter of the late John M'Carthy, of Springhoufe, Efq" - 10 February 1789 - Saunders's News-Letter

Catherine's death notice is at http://www.limerickcity.ie/media/05%2023%2038.pdf She died on 7th May.

Daughter Emily married "at the house of Richard Sheil, Esq. Holles-street, Dublin, Peter O’Brien, Esq. Limerick, Emily, daughter of the late Edward Sheil, Esq" also see https://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/0b46fc0417836

If you like squinting there's also the 1834 will of "Mary Winifred Countess MacCarthy" at https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D263742

Oh good! I will have a look smiley
