Mothers and Daughters Connection Challenge

Mother's Day is celebrated in the month of May in a lot of different countries on the second Sunday which is the 12th this year (Not all of course). To help celebrate this we thought it would be a good idea to check our connections for our Female relatives. Can we improve on the amount of mothers recorded on https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1741612/7-233-104-mothers.

There will be two phases to this

  • Verify your own family
  • Improve the Female Notables highlighted in the Connection Finder this year

=== Verify your own family ===

The aim is to find the longest sourced path that you can verify. The starting points (to be fair for everyone) is your Paternal Grandmother or Maternal Grandmother. Any improvements during the month of May will be counted. Record your counts on this G2G post. This is not tracked any other way.

There are several ways to score bragging points.

  1. Longest connections
  2. Bring in a Replacement
  3. Find the name

For the '''Longest connections''' you are aiming to find the longest Mother to Daughters chain that is sourced. It can go up and down your tree. The reason for starting at the Grandmother level is to ensure the generations have the same starting point. It could be Adoptive or Biological Grandparents. Maybe you can find additional connections too?

For the '''Bring in a Replacement''' part of the challenge there will be one exception for the connections to run through a Male profile. If you have an instance of Maternal Death (Or within 5 years of Birth of Daughter) and the father remarried then you can switch tracks and follow the step mothers connections as well.

For the '''Find the name''' part of the challenge we want to find names to those mothers that don't have a name recorded yet and are listed as "Unknown" LNAB. For this part you want to record how many names you find sources for. This should help you find more family as well.

=== Improve the Female Notables ===

For this part of the challenge the task is simple. Find as many Female relatives you can for some of the Female Notables we have spotlighted in the connection finder this year. Any improvements during the month of May will be counted.

See this Free Space page Space:Mothers_and_Daughters_Notables_Connection_Challenge for a list of Notables .

To score please add your findings to this G2G post and the highest marks will get added to the page.

Not all Females spotlighted in the connection finder are listed but I have tried to have a variety of birth locations and low CC7's to encourage growth in their connections.

Thanks Tommy. It should be fixed now. It also is linked as a Wikitree Profile so two ways to get there and have a look.

This sounds super fun! Though we celebrate this sunday in Chile, I won’t be able to meet my mom so it’ll be a nice weekend to work on this. Great challenge!

I will finish cleaning up my 2016 gedcom junk for my maternal line this week.

I'll also work in finding some last names for Unknown ladies. There are a lot of Unknown profiles that have easy to find sources.

I finished cleaning up my maternal line and asked for some help on my 3rd ggmother to see if I can expand the line.
Hopefully someone can help for your 3rd ggmother.

2. Fanny is the daughter of Mary Alice (Bissell) Shaw (1843-1910)
3. Mary is the daughter of Martha Cotton (Moulton) Bissell (1815-1858)

4. Martha is the daughter of Maria (Cotton) Moulton (abt.1794-1875)
5. Maria is the daughter of Alice Chase (1765-1844)
6. Alice is the daughter of Alice (Corbett) Chase (abt.1733-1813)

7. Alice is the daughter of Sarah (Jones) Corbett (1694-1776)
8. Sarah is the daughter of Sarah (Lobdell) Jones (1666-1750)

10. Sarah is the daughter of Bridget (Bellamy) Bosworth (abt.1619-aft.1660)

This makes Bridget the eighth great grandmother of Mary.

I believe I have found the proper Harriet for this Unknown LNAB: Unknown-286167

I propose that this is Harriet (Hattie) Hastings Young

And I found and created/connected profile for Hattie's daughter, Arline/Elaine Wormwood/Wood Wormwood-131
And I found and connected Hattie to her mother, Dam-536

I'm taking this opportunity to do some bio improvement and hopefully expand the "sourced" number. As I start, I have the following numbers:

From my Granddaughter Riley to my 3rd Great-Grandmother, Lydia Johnson is 8 steps.
